Costa Rica Mission, Day Eight

7/7/10

Our last day in Costa Rica. I awoke early, had my shower, took my vitamins and malaria pills and looked forward to this last day.

After breakfast, we boarded the bus and travelled further up the mountain to the Canopy Tour area, where we would "zipline" through the jungle. I have to admit, this was one of the main things I had looked forward to during this entire trip. After signing the necessary papers, getting outfitted in our harness and gear, we made our way to the starting location.

We had a brief orientation on how to zipline properly and made our way through the jungle as our guide informed us of the origin of ziplining and some of the features of the jungle, etc.

In my clear poncho, over my white T-shirt, I looked like a big ghost and so I was aptly named "Espirito Grande" for the day!

I have to say that ziplining was a blast and I would jump at the chance to do it again.

Afterwards, we returned to the ranch, ate lunch, and made our way to town. There we "competed" in an Amazing Race style of shopping, which was fun. After buying a hammock chair and some Costa Rican coffee in a local grocery store, we boarded the bus for the Argentinian steak house for dinner.

Since I cannot eat red meat, I ordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu, which was very good. I also made sure I had a bite of David's porterhouse steak - how I miss it!

After dessert, which our friends from Texas graciously provided (I had the flan), we headed back to the ranch.

On the day we were to leave, I purchased some shirts for Marybeth and the boys. We drove to town, boarded our flight to Miami, and began the journey home.
