This week we focused on the issue of suffering and its meaning/purpose in our lives. Believing that God is caring, knowing and purposeful, we must then struggle with this issue, trusting that God will use it for our good. (Philippians 4:13 and Romans 8:28)
As the saying goes, 'What does not kill us makes us stronger.' So what have you suffered in the past? Seeing that you are still here, what did that suffering do to teach, grow or strengthen you? Did God reveal Himself in your suffering or did you grow closer to Him as a result? What did your suffering do to bring others to an awareness of God's presence and grace? How can we choose to allow future suffering to bring glory to God, more and more? (2 Corinthians 4:15)
Suffering is very real and can be one of the most distasteful experiences of life. But with the grace of God, it can become a vehicle of knowing Him on a much deeper level and it can bring others to a deeper knowledge of Him as well.
