This week we discussed the difficult instructions of Jesus to "deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow Him." As long as we view life from a human viewpoint, it will be impossible for us to do so, due to our concerns about the temporary elements to life here on earth. We all struggle, worry, and strive after earthly things; financial solvency, family harmony, a sense of purpose and accomplishment. But as we learned, the things that please us and the things that disturb us are only temporary. Perhaps those words bring comfort; perhaps they bring uneasiness. But in the end, when we embrace the truth of these words, we can see life for
what it is - an opportunity to be in relationship with God and helping others to come into contact with Him as well.
I hope you were able to take a cross with you today and I hope you will wear it in the weeks ahead. Remember, if someone comments to about it to give it away as a reminder to you that the things of this world are only temporary and that the eternal things are what are important. In the process, may we make an eternal impact in the lives of those around us. All for Jesus...
