Costa Rica Mission Trip, Day Five

7/4/10

Today s Sunday, July 4th, 2010. I awoke early, and one of the women brought me my coffee. We ate and had some time before worship. Since we were such a large group, rather than worship at a local Pentecostal church, which is the usual schedule, we worshipped in the chapel at 10:30 with other local missionaries.

Two daughters of one of the missionary couples led us in singing and Bob shared his testimony and his call to mission work.

Due to the recent pranks, the men decided to "up the ante" on the boys and opted for a "psychological" attack - not actually doing anything, but making the boys think that we were doing something. The boys took our shoes, tied them together, and placed them in a tree. After several "false alarms", causing them to think we were up to something, J.T. was able to get into our room, even after we locked our door, and pull our bunks out of the room and onto the balcony. Rollin and I were watching and made them put the bunks back. Later, at lunch, a truce was called, as it was decided that the pranks needed to end before they got out of hand.

We enjoyed a BBQ of hot dogs and hamburgers, followed y a game of ultimate Frisbee. y team got down early, 4-1, then surged ahead, 5-4, only to lose 7-5. Soon afterwards it began to rain and spoiled our plans for the traditional "goat races", which  was looking forward to. Wet and tired,  went to lay down for about an hour, thankful for the ran that cooled the air.

Dinner came slowly, followed by a brief reflection on the day and a round of "65" before bed.
