Reflections on Psalm 23

As we continue our sermon series on Psalm 23, I am overwhelmed with a thankful heart for all God has provided. You've probably heard the saying: "God is good, all the time. All the time, God is good." Boy, is that true. That is not to say that we will not have difficult times in this life. Downright hard, ruinous, heart-wrenching times. But the good news, the message that gives us the ability to endure, is the knowledge that God is with us, like a shepherd who loves his sheep, caring for our every need, protecting us from being devoured by our enemy, giving us a peaceful place to be nourished and provided for.

I need to be reminded of this much more often than I realize...

"The Lord is MY shepherd, and because of this, I will want for nothing."

"He makes me lie down in GREEN pastures, beside STILL waters. He RESTORES my soul."

"Even when I walk through dark and difficult times, HE IS THERE; His rod ans staff guide and protect me."

"He ANOINTS my head with oil, prepares a table for me in the presence of my enemies, and my cup RUNS over with blessings."

"Surely goodness and mercy WILL follow me ALL the days of my life and I will DWELL in the house of the Lord forever."

Amen, and amen.
